As I was laying in bed last night; having spent two wonderful days with my family of in laws. My FOMO kicked in knowing that I would have to be at work in the morning. Not wanting to spiral before bed, I thought, "You are working on top of hosting people, you should be happy with yourself. Plus nobody wants you to feel this way and everyone understands." I then thought about teaching my 9 year old second cousin to drive the golf cart, the wind flowing through my families hair on the boat, smiles wide as we jump into the lake. All the good stuff. I continued to think that while there is never enough time with our loved ones, quality time can be abundant if you make yourself available to it and I am doing that.

What makes these times even better is the fact that I feel better. Before I made this lifestyle change, I was worried I would feel like I was missing out since I am not eating the same as everyone else. But after patience and reading, I now know how untrue that is. In fact, I am actually enriching my experiences by changing my diet. No longer am I feeling sick on vacation, my mental health is balanced, and I have more energy to do more things (like being thrown off a tube and only being a little sore haha). When you choose foods, people, and activities that are good for you, you feel good about yourself.

It's surreal coming and understanding this knowledge because for so many years, I listened to the "no food is bad food," way of thinking. I don't unbelieve this, I don't think you have demonize yourself if you eat that cookie, brownie or soda pop. But there are foods that are meant to better support us for different things, and we owe them the credit and the ability to do that so that we can be our best selves. So read those labels, go for the brown rice, try something new like a rutabaga, and most importantly if all else goes by the wayside. Advocate for yourself and what you want! You are the center of your own universe, life ends and begins with you. So take care of your inner home with the best qualities like the ones you possess.

adaptingly yours,

Emma

I feel Better All the Time now.

If you think that title is even remotely true, than you are giving me far more credit than I'll ever deserve! Because the fact of the matter is, I am still transitioning and learning how to apply ever
